West Highland Way: Introduction
The West Highland Way (WHW) is a long distance footpath that goes from Milngavie to Fort William. The route is very well waymarked with brown posts with a white thistle within a hexagon. The route is never extremely demanding however it is not suitable for completely unexperienced hikers. When you do not have any experimence with long distance walking you rather should do the Great Glenn Way to gain some experimence, since this is a much easier walk.
The route crosses several historical sites, like an ancient priory, the remaining of the lead industry and a battlefield. On your way from Milngavie (say Mull Guy) to Fort William you walk over a former railway track, military roads and drove ways.
